Nail Surgery offers a permanent solution for persistent ingrowing toenails and deformed toenails.
It is also know as partial nail ablation (PNA) when part of the nail is removed and total nail ablation (TNA) when the whole nail is removed.
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia. After the offending section/whole nail is removed, a chemical is used to stop the nail from regrowing. The resulting wound will take some time to heal and will need to be cleansed and dressed every day, but this can be done by yourself, at home.
There is a 98.5% success rate, according to research done by Vaccari 2010, see article reference in News & Resources.
